weekending 7/24

Monday: 0. Lifted upper x 2.
Tuesday: 0.

Wednesday: Lifted upper x2. Played hoops in the pm.

Thursday: 1 mile in Friedsam w/Jimmy. I didn't get going early enough before summer school. HOT

Friday: am: 4 in Kilburn w/Jimmy. Wow, I ran at 7:30 and it was already miserably hot and humid.

noon: Lifted upper x 3.

Saturday: am: 3 miles in Friedsam. pm drove down to CT for Tyson's stag party.

Sunday: Drove back from CT in am.

pm: Should have run. The weather was cooler and beautiful for running, but I went fishing w/Joel on Highland Lake instead. Fun day.

This was an impressive week of lethargy. At least I lifted 3 times. The heat was a killer for my motivation. Next week back after it!

weekending 7/17

Monday: 0. Lifted upper x 2. Back very tight!

Tuesday: 0. Back tight + summer school + summer camp + 90 degree weather = no running.

Wednesday: 3 in Friedsam w/Jimmy. Felt like I hadn't run in a month! Lifted upper x2. Played hoops in the pm. Back feeling decent.

Thursday: 0. Sore and lazy from hoops. This is shaping up to be a decent week of lethargy!

Friday: am: 3.5 in Pisgah w/Jimmy. Felt like rubbish.

noon: Lifted upper x 2. No energy.

Saturday: am: 7 Monadnock Sunapee Greenway w/Jimmy. I parked off Route 9 near Granite Lake and headed south. I was hoping to go longer, but I came to a paved road and I didn't have a leash for Jimmy.

pm: 4.5 in Putney solo. I got really hot by the end of this run which made the frigid, cold water that much sweeter.

Sunday: am: 12 Vistas in Pisgah w/Jimmy in 1:46. Hot/tough run. I suffered on the Ridge section, but recovered on Hubbard. I walked the last hill back to the Horseshoe parking lot. Whippers (when sticks get whipped from one leg into the achilles of your other leg) shuck! I experienced about 3 whippers including a nasty one on the descent from Hubbard that made me fall while simultaneously gashing my right calf. I survived and had fun!

weekending 7/10

Monday: am 6. Four on the Fourth road race. 27:31-34. I missed sub 27:30 by a hair. Didn't feel good. The roads really beat me up. 6:25, 6:44 (13:10 halfway), 7:11, 7:11. I went out a little too fast.

Tuesday: 0. Took kids hiking in Pisgah. Saw a bear on the way to get the kids from school.

Wednesday: am 3 w/Jimmy in Friedsam. Back tight. Caught 2 nice largemouths on Spofford today.

Thursday: am 8 w/Jimmy around Kilburn. Ran into Greg and Jenny w/Griffin. Nice swim as usual.

Friday: 0. Went canoeing with middle school camp. Fun day. Lifted upper x2.

Saturday: am 8 with 4 mile tempo mixed in. For some reason I decided to run fast from the gun. This made the last uphill miles a struggle. Nash/Southwoods. 4 striders after run. Feeling tight!

Sunday: am 4 w/ Jimmy at Kilburn. Felt like crap. Back was awful last night, but a little better today.

weekending 7/3

Monday: 3 in Friedsam w/Jimmy + 5 x 60 meter hill sprints. Went bass fishing again today. I lost two on the grass frog. I need to use the trailer hook.

Tuesday: am 9 Kilburn + w/Greg and wolves. Super sluggish run. Swim felt great. Greg dove in after my car key and found it on the murky, twelve foot deep bottom. It was awesome. Our day would have really sucked without it!
pm 2 Friedsam w/Jimmy. Pushed this one in places. Felt decent.

Wednesday: am 4 miles Beals Knob w/Jimmy. Felt crappy. I need an easy run. All my runs are uphill (upmountain) on the way back. This is mentally draining. Of course, I've also hit 40 miles for the last 6 days, so physically I'm a little drained as well.

pm 3. Ran the Keenyan way at Monadnock track. I ran a mile to get a marker for where I'm at fitness wise. 6:09. I was hoping to break 6, but I haven't broken the pain barrier for a long time. I really can't be too disappointed. It is what it is. I'm going to go down to Rhody and catch some stripers and fluke then run the 4 on the 4th Monday. I'm shooting for a sub 27:30.

Thursday: am 8 miles Kilburn w/Jimmy. Tough, slow run. My legs felt really tired on this one. Glad I ran. Lifted pm upper x3 with Greg in Rhody.

Friday: 0. Went fishing all day then ate fish tacos when we got back. Fun day. We hammered 'em. No 40/40 club though! Pard caught the biggest striper in the 25 pound range.

Saturday: am 11 miles w/Jonny and Greg + Griffin in Burlingame. Fun run. My legs felt good. Great trails. Sammy C and some obscure mtn. bike trails.

Sunday: am 3 miles w/Jimmy in Pisgah. + 5 striders. Feeling decent. Deer Flies are up to full force!

Good week. Catching stripers was the highlight. My run with my brothers was a great one. My tough runs in Pisgah paid off, and I was able to hang with my bros. I'm excited to race tomorrow, not because I think I'll set any pr's (23:20 14yrs ago), but because I want to run tough and have fun!
Next week Hinsdale Fun Runs start. Hopefully some of my kids show up. I'm shooting for another 40 mile week.
