Week ending 2/20

Monday: 0. We had an away game at Bratt. We lost by 6 which is a heck of a lot better than the 20 we lost by the first time we played them. Tomorrow I'm canceling practice so I can lift and run (and let my sick and beat up team rest).

Tuesday: 2 mile run w/ Jimmy in Friedsam. Lifted upper x2. Benched for max with some of my students. Got 230, but couldn't get 240.

Wednesday: Meetings after work. 0. Played hoops with the team at practice.

Thursday: 3 mile run w/Jimmy, Beals Knob. Lifted upper x2. Played 1 on 1 and 2 v 2 at practice.

Friday: 4 w/ Greg and wolves, Beals Knob.

Saturday: 1 mile run/post hole shuffle in Friedsam w/ Jimmy. I tried to run without my snowshoes; it was a bad idea! Windy weather.

Sunday: 3 mile s.s. run w/ Jimmy in Friedsam. Felt good. The conditions were fast, so I cranked. Lifted upperx2. Played a little 3 on 3. Fun day.

Better week. Full vacation next week. I should be able to run at least 5 times. I need to still lift 3 times.

Weekending 2/13

Monday: 0. Played hoops with the team

Tuesday: 0. Lifted upperx3. Hiked in Friedsamw/Jimmy. Wind is really whipping!

Wednesday: 0. We had a home game-we lost. I also had to give a presentation to the entire high school and middle school faculty which I think was a win. ;)

Thursday: 0. Ran laps with the team and shot around. Walked Jimmy in Friedsam. This is going to be a tough week to train. I've got another game tomorrow and I'm hiking all day Saturday with a class in Pisgah. The key is I'm still active.

Friday: Lifted upper2x3. Had a game tonight. We won! It was particularly satisfying since we lost earlier to this team by 30.

Saturday: 4 mile snowshoe in Pisgah w/ class. What a great day! Trail blazing and kids being kids. We had a lot of fun. I felt like Pard a few times out there when I had to remind the kids about their woods' voices! It took me back in time.

Sunday: 3 mile run w/ Jimmy in Friedsam. Lifted upper x2. Benched 230 once on the machine. Feeling good!

Wow the weeks are flying by. I had 1 run this week and 3 days lifting. I can't wait for vacation, so I can actually (nick cash) run some mileage. Bball is ending soon which should free up more time to run. I hope that little groundhog was right.

Week ending 2/6/2011

Monday: 0. Had an away game at Wilton.

Tuesday: 0. The snow is piling up again. Game against Monadnock is postponed.

Wednesday: 4 miles 51 minutes in Friedsam w/Jimmy.
Deep powder. I decided to not bring snowshoes since it was only about 9 inches on top of the packed down trails. For fun, I jumped into the snow off the trail; it's about mid thigh! Happy Ground Hog's Day!

Thursday: 0. Lifted upper1x3. Had a game today. We lost by 20. We really don't look that bad. We just couldn't spit in the ocean.

Friday: 0. Played hoops with the team.

Saturday: 3 mile snowshoe run w/ Jimmy & Griffin in Friedsam. I opted out of the race today, so I could play with the dogs. Interesting observation: The bridges' hand rails are about knee height with all the snow on them. It makes it feel like you could fall off!

Sunday: 2 mile run w/ Jimmy in Friedsam. I went sans snowshoes. It was fun. It was gorgeous, sunny weather. Lifted upper x2. Played hoops with the team.

Just a normal week. I need to lift 3 x per week.

Wintah!

I'm blogging because I'm bored. I ran today for the first time in a while. I shoveled half my driveway until my generous, kind, and all around awesome neighbor plowed the rest with his John Deer. I've done pushups and light stretching. I filed my taxes (Gina gets most of the credit here). I even did a little planning for school. Snow days are good!!!

I figured now I can think of where I want this year to go fitness wise. I need to continue lifting and being active. It feels great to not think about my back every waking second. Lifting has been the cure for my years of pain. I am really lucky to have the little gym at our school, so I don't have to drive into Keene just to pump a little iron. I haven't taken my medicine in at least 2 months.

I had fun racing at the Hoot Toot & Whistle snowshoe race a couple weekends ago. Even though it's going to feel like a marathon, I'm going to race at Northfield this Saturday. Racing will hopefully keep me motivated through the winter. Here's what I need to do this February:

1. Run at least 3 x week.
2. Lift 3 x week.
3. Race twice.
4. Make vacation a week with 5 days of running.

That should keep me busy. I would love to feel like I'm starting with a little fitness once Spring hits. I hope everyone else is enjoying the snow!

Week ending 1/30/2011

Monday: 0. Had an away game at Sunapee.

Tuesday: 0. Grades were due today which is always a super busy time.

Wednesday: 0. Had an away game in VT.

Thursday: Lifted Upper1 x 3. Played hoops w/ team + suicides, man they're tough!

Friday: Played hoops w/ team.

Saturday: Hike w/ Jimmy and Griffin at Beals Knob.

Sunday: 2 mile run in Friedsam w/ Jimmy. I decided to go sans snowshoes. It wasn't too bad. Lifted upper1x2. Played hoops with the team 3 v. 3. Fun day. I'm tired!
